Praying for Addie!

A couple of weeks ago a girlfriend called me and she was devastated on hearing the news about her eight year old grand-daughter, Addie.  She had just been diagnosed with DIPG(diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma).  It is a brain tumor that is found in an area of the brainstem known as the pons.  It is a tumor that is not contained and it grows into other tissues and mixes with healthy cells.  The pons are responsible for a lot of bodily functions, such as breathing, sleeping, bladder control and balance.

Addie had not been feeling well for the past several months.  She had been vomiting, headaches and was all the time nauseated.  Addie's mother began to take her to various doctors.  After none of the doctors could figure out what was wrong, they had a MRI done.  From the MRI, the doctors were finally able to put a name to her situation.

I could go on and explain a lot more of this diagnoses and I could talk about the prognosis, but I am going to talk about how we need to pray for Addie.  As we know, the great Creator knows all about each of us.  But why would God allow this?  I don't know, but I do know that God is sovereign.

Psalm 139:16 - "Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, everyone of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them."

Psalm 90:12 - "So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom."

James 4:14 - "Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring.  What is your life?  For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes."

Luke 12:7 - "Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered.  Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows."

John 7:6 - "Jesus said to them, "My time has not yet come, but your time is always here."

My prayer is for complete healing for Addie.  That her story will be a miraculous healing that others will come to know and walk with Jesus.  In the book of Matthews, I have been reading about how Jesus healed the Official's Daughter; how Jesus healed the woman who touched His cloak; the healing of the blind men and so many other miraculous healings.

I just read that "without a test, there is no testimony".  This is so true.  But who wants to be the test?  From this test comes the question "where is my faith?"

2 Corinthians 5:7 - "We live by faith, not by sight."

Hebrews 11:6 - "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."

Addie is a daughter, a grand-daughter, a sister, a cousin, a friend and a child of God.  Lord as you blessed the little children, I pray that you will bless Addie and heal her.  I pray for her mother and her father and that God will give them the faith and understanding that they need during this time.

Lord, Addie is a young lady who wants to grow up and draw pictures of animals in a veterinary clinic.  She loves being with her brother and family and friends.

Jesus, as I look at this photo of Addie and her beautiful smile, I pray for that healing for her and her family.

May I trust in God's timing in Addie' healing!  His purpose and His plan will be according to His will.  I do know that the ultimate healing will be when we each go to Heaven.  We don't know what tomorrow holds, but we know who holds tomorrow.

Matthew 18:20 - "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there among them."  As I pray may I be right with you Lord and may I have the faith to believe and to know that you are here in this situation.  By knowing that you are here, I know that all things work together for your good.  May I keep my eyes on you and believe in the healing of Addie!  I will continue to pray for her healing and rejoice when the healing comes.  Thank you Jesus for being there when we need you!
