On Sunday, around 5:40 pm, we reached the beautiful Amalia
Glacier. This is located in southern
Chile on the edge of Sarmiento Channel.
It is a tidewater glacier located within the massive Bernardo O’Higgins
National Park.
It seemed as if every passenger was on top of the ship
waiting to arrive at the Amalia Glacier.
As we approached the area, you could see the massive, jagged mountains
in the distance. Coming upon the glacier,
one was in awe at the eerie baby blue color.
The fresh air, the stillness of the bay and the coloration of the
glacier took your breath away. The ship
made a complete turn-around so everyone had an opportunity to enjoy a picturesque
view of the glacier.
As I looked at the glacier, all I could think about was the
beauty of God’s creation and the opportunity I had to enjoy it.
After about an hour, the Captain gave the order and the ship
proceeded out of the bay and on toward our next port of call, Puerto Montt.
